News stories – Get yourself tested for bowel cancer

This article was posted in the Warwick Daily News local newspaper in QLD on 31/05/2012.

AS Bowel Cancer Awareness Week looms closer, Bowel Cancer Australia chief executive Julien Wiggins is urging Queenslanders to get screen tested for the disease as early as possible.

Wiggins stated that “90 per cent of bowel cancer cases can be treated successfully if detected before the disease has had time to spread beyond the bowel.”

The test is recommended for those over 50, however seven per cent of people diagnosed with the disease are younger.

BowelScreen Australia test kits are available at local pharmacies, and can be conducted in the privacy of your own home.
